Why Old Horror Games Still Feel More Disturbing Than Modern Ones
I don’t think older horror games were necessarily scarier because they had better stories or smarter mechanics. A lot of them were clunky, awkward, and occasionally frustrating in ways modern games have mostly outgrown. But they had one quality that feels strangely rare now: they were comfortable with uncertainty.
