The Guringai Festival, also known as the Gai-mariagal Festival, is an annual celebration that highlights the vibrant culture and history of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Northern Sydney, NSW. Founded in 2001 by Susan Moylan-Coombs, a dedicated local resident, this festival aims to foster greater awareness and appreciation of Indigenous heritage. Starting on Sorry Day, May 26th, the festival runs through National Reconciliation Week and concludes at the end of NAIDOC Week in July. Over the course of nearly two months, the festival features a wide array of events, workshops, and activities, with participation from 11 councils and numerous community and reconciliation groups, all working together to promote understanding and respect.
